Impressive opening 35mins from Connacht. They have broken the ospreys line a number of times only for the final pass/off load to be spilled.

    Could easily be in front.

    Very true.

Connacht have been their own worst enemies this evening. They've been sloppy on a few occasions but what is most worrying is their absolutely dire defensive line.
Are they employing a drift defence, rush defence or man-on-man style? It's bloody hard to figure out what exactly they're trying to do.

The pack has looked very impressive in the scrums and the breakdown has been ok. They've also managed a couple of turnovers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,352 ✭✭✭funky penguin

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,352 ✭✭✭funky penguin

Damn, came back up with the teams walking off the pitch.

    19-17 final score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,202 ✭✭✭seanin4711

    explain this to me!
Connacht have a penalty with 5 mins to go and kick the 3!
Why in the name of jesus didnt they go for the corner and take the chance of winning the game?
typical "there to make up the numbers" sort of attitude.
We played great with some basics errors but really we should have put away a poor ospreys!
at least we got a BP but we should have had all 4!!!
    disgusted!
I mean a loss is a loss after all!

Didn't see the game. how did Sean Cronin and Gavin Duffy play as the two possible Connacht players for inclusion in the Ireland squad?

Argh, Troy Nathan fluffed an opportunity for a certain try to win the game! Broke from a ruck, had Frank Murphy inside him, 2 on 1 against Phillips and he holds onto the ball. No vision whatsoever by Nathan, incredibly frustrating. Connacht finished well however and by the end they had the ospreys creeking all over the place.

Cronin was very good, Connacht dominated the set piece for most of the game. He was unlucky not to score a great try in the 1st half. Took his try in the 2nd very well.

Connacht front row as a unit were very impressive. Cronin is a banker for a spot in the Irish 22 next week.

Hagan when he came on played very well indeed. At last it seems like we're developing a decent tight-head backup! :)

I rate him above Robbie Morris these days and less likely to give away silly penalties.

I was looking forward to this match especially after the Hairsprays were drubbed last week. Disappointing performance, lots of hard yards (and scrums) won but an inexplicable kicking game negated these gains. Ronaldson and Marmion were poor, Muldoon and Leader were good and the scrum at times was very good. Oh well, should be a different story for Zebre.

Hi,this thread was for discussing the Ospreys-Connacht match in the 2009-10 season, posting in the newer Connacht discussion thread would be a more fitting place :)
