So the mother (for some unknown reason) decided to get an iPhone. So, as you can imagine, I have been given the task of setting it up. Having never used an iPhone, I was hoping someone could answer these few questions..

    1) Anyway of transferring phone data from the old phone, a Nokia E51? Have the data cables etc.

    2) Unable to update the software on the iPhone because at 99.9% it cuts out saying a problem with the network connection. I have disabled the firewall, made no difference. Any other ideas?

Also - any good covers about?

    1) Depends on what kind of data you mean, contacts (if synced with the computer) can be transferred, but text messages can't. Pics and videos will have to be transfered to the computer and then synced through iTunes. Videos will have to be converted btw! Unfortunately, you can't transfer data over bluetooth.

    2) I've had this problem a couple of times and find persistence is the key. Just keep trying and it should work. Anyway, if it's running 3.1.2, there isn't a whole lot you are missing out on. 3.1.3 is just a fix in the accuracy of the battery meter as far as I recall.

EDIT: One other thing that might help would be to ensure iTunes is fully up to date. Might be worth a shot!

On the covers front, some of the frogskinz available in the o2 stores are good. They're lined with flocking to prevent scratching, and cover everything except the front of the phone - which is actually quite tough.

Sound, done. Was going to do Calendar but the PC she uses iTunes on doesn't have a working Nokia PC Suite so it would take time to get that sorted. I think the video was fine - seems to have been the same format.

Yeah I had iTunes up-to-date but figured out the problem. I needed to disable both the Firewall and Antivirus in the Security Suite. Once done, it worked, so its all up-to-date.

Cheers for your help on that Minto, appreciated.

    Sorted, thanks for the recommendation!
