Did they pay you for the Trial Period. Its bizarre whats going in the Jobs, recruitment market. Jobs posted, applied for and ZERO responses. I noticed 90% of current jobs posted in my field on Recruit Ireland have been listed since before Christmas and most with Horrid agencies. Your story does not surprise me albeit i am taken about they actually brought you in for a trial which appeared to go well and then nothing.

Went for a trial? Wasnt with Protea Direct, Excel Organisation, Roar Promotions, or any other sub set of the Cobra Group any chance? Try reading the thread on Protea Direct for more examples..

Sash, name these f%^kers, thats outrageous, curious to know did you get the trial via an agency? I am curious about those other companies mentioned, is this a common thing, chancer companies getting people in on trial or on the cheap and then discarding them? this only adds to the stress of people genuinely looking for work. Name and shame in say!

Last summer, Galway was full of stories of cafes etc that had a new "work trial" person every Monday. Funnily enough, they were never good enough go get the job.

That practice is getting common, I have been for 2 interviews where I had to go in fo trials, which I thought went well but not a word since, and when I called they both said they hadn't decided yet, but in one of them one of the staff told me that they have had loads of people in for days trials, free labour methinks

I had a similar experience a long time ago. Straight onto the wonderful people at the labour court.
They very helpfully took down my information and asked me to email the company in questions, copying them in with the days I worked, the amount of money that I was due (gross) and my bank account details.

No word, so the labour court called me up to see if I wanted a day in there with them.
    Yes please.
No worries said the labour court. They wrote to me and to the company to fix a date.
Three days later a cheque for the full amount (gross) arrived at my home address.

    There you go.

They were great. Now this wasn't yesterday or the day before but nevertheless, alll they did was send a letter to fix a date.
    Very impressed.

This is what people should do. They more people who do this the less this it will happen.

I have done trials in the past but was paid for both and got one job.
