    Its a good show.

I alternate for the first hour between JON on Today FM and John Clarke on 2FM.

    Both are excellent.

Classic Gold Sunday is a great show. I usually listen to John Clarke on 2FM until 2pm and then switch over to Today FM until 4pm. After that it's Energy AM.

Yep John Clarke and Jim O'Neill are a pair of legends. Pity they are quarantined to Sundays, they should be on Monday to Friday too.

    +1 for Jim O'Neill,

Mind you, less of Waterloo Sunset, heard it enough now.

Jim O Neill all the way. It's a great show, one of the best on Irish Radio.

John Clarke all the way for me i'm afraid.he could throw any sort of track into the mix which is always welcome.not that Jim o Neill is bad it's just that i find John Clarke a little bit less predictable

Definately Jim O'Neill all the way. He is excellent. I've just been listening today and enjoyed thoroughly. I try to listen every week if possible. I miss him as the voice of Today FM.

If he is such a pro, maybe he ought to come back from South Africa and do his show live sometime:D

I don't think CLASSIC GOLD SUNDAY is brilliant, good nor gold. Every week its a shuffle of the same songs with the same comments. Try ask for a classic song that's not on the usual list post here what your unusual request is here on this thread and we'll see if it comes up

To request your song is jim@todayfm.com

Perhaps it would have been better to open a new thread, rather than adding to one that hasn't had a post in about three years.

I wonder does Jim pay his income tax for the gig to the Irish tax man or the south African tax man ?

OK so this is the second time this has been mentioned.
I know this is a zombie thread but...is Jim really in the RSA?

    For several years now, yes.

I have asked for the following songs to be played for this week

    Nino Ferrer Le Telefon
The Blades Ghost of a chance
    Space Magic fly
David Bowie Love you til Tuesday
    Jilted John Jilted John

I know none of these songs will be played including the David Bowie song because according to Shufflebox (Classic Gold Sunday) he only released 5 songs. As a request show it has a very limited playlist with the same comments

Hopefully other people may suggest on this thread and request songs that don't feature on the typical playlist

One of the reasons why I like John Clarke's show is because he merrily plays random and obscure gems and from the 50's/60's as opposed to the hackneyed safe muck and smug comments O'Neill gets away with.

Space Fly; Clarke would nick it as a bed for next week if anything :)

That's very interesting - but what does that mean?

That's what I was going to say, dammit.

All I can find from Google is...

ShuffleBox is a MIDI to DIN sync & DIN sync to DIN sync interface which adds shuffle/swing to the DIN sync and MIDI timing signal. The synced sequencer ..

Anybody got suggestions of songs that would not normally play on Classic Gold Sunday and also will anyone request these songs in order to break the system of being a shufflebox and make it into a true request show

Right, I think I understand. It's a good idea, too.

None of the 5 requests were played and no mention of the listeners that requested the 5 songs was made and also the DJ also made a comment about another listener's unusual choice of music and decided not to mention nor play any of them

    Amazingly Waterloo Sunset wasn't played
David Bowie's song Ashes to Ashes was played being one of the standard 5

Slightly related - a few weeks ago Jim had a competition, but he told people to email answers as (paraphrasing) "having a competition where you ring in and caller number nine wins is unfair".
