    Hey Folks,

Anyone having trouble with their UPC connection tonight? Got a phonecall from some guy in UPC earlier today confirming my address, he listed two old places we had been at but eventually found the correct place on the system.

Got home today and the box isn't working. When it's turned on it says Setup is Being Finalized but it's been at that for hours. There are 0 stations and I can't even watch any of my recorded programs as it says I am no longer subscribed to those channels.

Stragely my broadband is working fine. So is anyone else having any issues?

That message usually means the smart card in the box has been cancelled..

I had this when I first got my DVR. Call them first thing tomorrow.

Thanks guys. Can't imagine why they'd cancel the card. Will give them a call tomorrow.

Was on to them for 30 minutes this afternoon and 50 minutes later in the evening. Rather brilliantly and for no apparent reason TV was 'disconnected' and reallocated to an old address we haven't lived at for years.

It also appears we've been given a new account number for our TV service, seperate from the broadband and seperate from the account number I've had with them for years.

Despite running through every address I've lived at for the last 5 years, all my personal details, our smart card number, various details printed on the bottom of the gateway they can't find why our TV service was disconnected, why we have a new account number and how to get it up and running again.

For whatever reason they can't just turn it back on and I have to wait until Monday to speak to a different department. So that's no TV from Friday to Monday.

In fairness to the two people I spoke to on the phone today they were extremely helpful and seemed to do all they could to get things working again.

This is completely their fault. Make sure you get compensation from them.

Broadband disappeared on Sunday as well. In fairness to them they did mention I wouldn't be charged for the time without the service.

That's something, just make sure to tell them when it is back and how long it was down for.

Anytime I've had issues and been told I'd get a refund, I have gotten a refund.

I've never really had any trouble with them up to this point so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.................. and pay attention to the next bill.

Yay - decent speeds are back. For some reason we get poor mobile reception in our apartment so we were only getting EDGE speeds on our 3G dongle. Man that was slow.

I dunno why but he installed a new Cisco gateway, even though the old one was the exact same and a new DVR (a black model now instead of the silver one). All my recorded programs are gone..... boo. Still TV is back and we have decent net speeds again so I can live with it.

Damn but the new box (small black Thomson unit) is noisy. It sounds like a fridge.
