if it is over a joule you can not import it, the device has to meet Irish law before importation im afraid, if it is sent for testing by customs it would be destroyed

You can't import AEGs of any power anymore anyway sadly

that's not true, the bill is on the books but not being enforced at the moment, please see the IAA last new release, as long as an aeg complys to irish law in regard to power output at the moment it can be imported freely

Ehobby downgrade, but its pricey at €40, try contacting the retailers and see what they can do for you.

eirsoft are working with ehobby and can get stuff from their site.

I recently went through hassle getting something from ehobby. (ehobby are a fantastic store) but when it hit Ireland there was trouble with Customs the Gardai, then UPS sending me threatening letters for fees etc when they
never delivered the item to my door as it was siezed by Customs.

The same product I bought would have worked out cheaper
buying it from the Lads as eirsoft.ie and it even turned up as
one of their partner products a few weeks later!

Might sound stupid, but could you import one, with the intention of getting it downgraded, ad if/when it got stopped at customs, get a techie/shop to get in touch with them to say it is going to het downgraded?

Nooooppee. Well highly unlikely anyway, its your word against theirs, you're an average Joe Soap, better play it safe than sorry and get it downgraded at source.

That's a definite no, then the ones coming in to Irish retailers have to be under the limit before they hit the country

Well some people think the partner products range there are overprice, people arguing but they have to cover rent , wages etc but to order a product from ehobby all they need is a retailers license, hell that could be done from the owners home with no shop needed so in my own OP I cant see where the extra costs are coming from considering the order itself costs nothing for them?
However its not like there is much of a choice after the ban comes in and it certainly hasnt stopped me ordering partner products. Bottom line is if you REALLY want a particular AEG not held in their own stock you just have to pay the extra costs, best value for money are the stock from eirsoft itself.

Cant fault the cust service and customer contact too, best airsoft shop I have dealt with foreign or in country.

Okay guys, I'm going to have to close this one as the facts need to be straightened out and left at that.

1 - You can still import gear. The importation ban has not come into force yet.

    2. You can not, under any circumstances import something over 1 joule. This is illegal. Do not do it. It doesn't matter what you intent to do with it once it hits this shore. It is considered a firearm while going through customs. With your name on it.
