Age for facial hair?

Just want to know is there a rough age when facial hair starts growing. I do have a bit but it isn't enough to resemble anything. I want to grow a decent goatee or beard if at all possible.

Its just weird there are lads 2 years younger than me with loads of facial hair and I have barely any hair on the sides of my cheeks. Is there anything you can do, or is it just different times for different people?

Finally can I ask is gentics anything to do with it? My father used to have a fully grown beard. Does that mean anything?

I suppose it depends on the person and hormones but I'd guess between the ages of 14/15/16 it likely starts...obviously it woudn't be as much as when your 20 or older though.

Facial hair can vary a fair bit, I know a lad that hardly has any even if he dopesn't shave for say 2-3 days....I have loads after 1 day...yet I'm younger then him.

I've been shaving regularly enough since i was 15, need to shave everyday for work as it grows so quick. Yet I have friends 1 in particular that shaves once a month we're both 27!

Depends on the person. Mine grows very slowly- by 15 I only needed to shave once every other month, and now at 22 I only need to shave once every 5 or 6 days.

Id say the most average age for facial hair is 16. the more you shave your face the more and faster it will grow. heres a tip dont shave too far up your face you dont want hair growing in places you dont want

Sorry but the "if you shave it'll grow back thicker" is a myth

Shaving has nothing to do with it growing back faster. It's all about hormones and how your body is working:)

I got 'bum fluff' when I was 12, then some proper facial hair when I was 13, it's been sorta patch the past year, but in the last month or so it has started to grow fairly thick, I'm 15. If I wanted to be clean shaven I'd shave every 2-3 days, but having a small beard suits me, so I'm told so I trim every week and a half to 2 weeks.

I started getting bum fluff in my mid teens, particularly around the tash area. Only started to grow a proper full beard when I was about 19/20. If I wanted to keep clean shaven now I'd need to shave everyday, I'm 24. I'd say don't worry about it mate, everybody is different!

Its different for everybody.. some people, even when older have very little facial hair.. Myself, I started shaving twice weekly when i was 12...when I was in 5th year, at the age of 15 - 16, I was the only guy in my school with the ability to grow a full beard. my cousin didnt start untill he was 16..

I started shaving when I was 16 and I'm 26 now. Its only in the last year my facial hair has any proper definition and I could probably just about grow a beard now. I tried growing one when I was 20 but it was a disaster. I can go for about 3 days without having to shave but some of my friends shave in the morning and would look like they needed another one by the afternoon. Everyone is different I guess.
