Hi I'm just looking into masters courses in education. (e.g. masters in arts or M.Litt)

All are either taught or research based.

Can anyone explain what level of research is involved in masters courses?

Do you have the option of simply researching from library sources or do you have to conduct field research. If you have to complete field research how thorough does it have to be?

The idea of carrying out new research is a bit daunting.
