Used Runners

Like many of you I change my runners around every 500 miles. Often the runners are still in very good nick. Maybe I'm old fashioned,(I remember previous recessions! smile.gif)

In any case I dislike throwing out runners that sometimes look too good to be dumping ....question is

Instead of throwing the runners in the bin. Does anyone know of a charity that takes them or any other good use for them?

Just clean them up and give them to a chairty shop?
Perhaps ask them before hand will they find a use for them?

There's a couple of charity-type organizations and clubs that will collect them and send them to Africa. Here's a previous thread on the subject.

    There's usually a collection around Connemarathon time-frame.

Thanks for your quick replies...I'll look through the previous thread, I would have been surprised if the topic had not been discussed before...looks like some good suggestions!

The ideas in the previous thread may not be so useful at present ... Looks like it was good idea at the time but maybe not everyyear? ...therefore I wonder does anyone else out there have any good ideas??

Dunno if you live near Kildare or go down the M7 very often but the last time I was in the the Nike outlet store they were taking old runners. So you give them a ring and see if they are still doing it.
