    Demo version ;)

I was going to download this today, but wanted to find out if it was the same as the Japanese one first. Is it a couple of street fights / nightclub sequence / dark alley street fight? If it is different I'll give it a download (and I'd like to understand what everyone is saying too...)! Very fun game, can't wait for release! Makes me far too nostalgic for Japan though - all those Boss Coffee vending machines....

i was quite disappointed with this (dont know why i was expecting otherwise considering it is sega!) and i didnt even make it to the end of the game demo. it was like a game straight out the 90s, the fighting /combat was choppy and sluggish and it just felt like i was doing some mindless button bashing, maybe it would have been better if i hadnt recently finished batman arkham asylum!

Nostalgia is kind of part of the appeal of the Yakuza games, but to say it's mindless button mashing is unfair - you have proper combo's and as you go through the game and learn more of them you have a wealth of moves at your disposal. The 'Heat' moves are always a blast too.

The thing about the Yakuza games that you don't get a feel for in the demo is the depth of the story. The first 2 Yakuza games are just fantastic, they've got incredible stories. The mini-games are a blast too, I loved the one's in the demo a lot. Karaoke ftw! :pac:

I love Kazuma more in HD than I did on the PS2, I'm regretting forgetting to vote for him as the hottest character of the last decade. :(

I can't be the only one who fails hard at this demo :(.

That guy with the sword is ridiculous.

I went into it expecting shenmue 3. Will have to try it again in a few more days with a more open mind or maybe I'll just go complete shenmue 2 again...

  • Just to revive this topic, what bloody stores are selling this? It's due out this Friday and most places have no idea what im taking about.

When you think about it the game is more like an RPG than anything else. A lot of people are expecting something like GTA which this game isn't and the early combat system is not an indication of how much depth the fighting system has later on.

  • Just back from town, seems that Gamestop have it on the shelfs now for prebook just to let you guys know, no price as of yet. So much things to buy; Oxygen ticket and this :/

Yeah probably be hard enough to get, and I refuse to shop in Gamestop anymore (I do not want your ****** disc coverage, and yes I am sure!). Might just pick that and GoW 3 up when I'm over in England in a fortnight - will give me time to put some hours into FF13 anyway.

  • Just to inform you guys its selling in gamestop for 49.99, haven't played it yet but will check back and give my opinions later.

HMV were also selling assassins creed 2 and Dante inferno for €35. bayonetta was 22.99

Yakuza 4 demo is on Jap PSN

The cutscenes are insane. And you can't skip them:mad:
Don't know why they have to put so many long cutscenes in a demo tbh..

Mine arrived this morning, have to say I'm impressed with the extras (DLC and Soundtrack CD with poster download). Can't wait to get stuck in. I'm not sure whether I should finish FFXIII first or switch between it and Yakuza 3. I'm spoiled for choice lately. :pac:

  • My opinions so far (spoiler free*), you gotta have patience expecially the first 3 - 4 hours..it starts slow. Im about 10 hours in now and pace has picked up..the fighting is different and theres loads of fun to be had. Plays like virtua fighter except with loads of weapons and rpg type level up system. It's got dramatic, over the top written all over the story. It's not for everyone but i'm enjoying it alot and its a different style of game.

My copy arrived this morning (I caved and ordered it on Amazon when I was getting some DVDs :() so looking forward to getting into it. However, the postman was also very generous and brought the bullet hell game I ordered weeks ago. So between those and FF13, too much gaming!

But definitely agree with Gothpunk - the unnecessary but cool extras are definitely welcome.
