Hey, this is for anyone planning on attending Bloc this year. The line up is great, however the fancy dress theme is awful. We are trying to get as many people as possible to ignore there theme as possible, and go with the one we have created. We have about 30 people on board so far, mainly close friends, but we want to spread it as far as possible. So if you agree, spread the word!

    Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=311892687262

Blurb: In the spirit of democracy and soundness (with a respectful and grateful nod to the bloc organisers) we reject the proposed fancy dress theme of "the big day" and replace it with "computer game characters".

There is almost an endless list of these and allow a lot more room for interesting, fun and hilarious costumes than the wedding theme. Think Mario, Princess, Toad, Donkey Kong, Ryu, Ken, Gordon Freeman, Princess Leah, Indiana Jones, Pacman, Mrs Pacman, Altair, Lara Croft, Sonic, Carl Johnson, Tommy Vercati, Guybrush Threepwood, Elaine Marley (By the way, if you know who all these are you are a huge nerd!), Link, Solid Snake, Princess Zelda, Dizzy the Egg etc etc etc (there are literally millions!).

Imagine how colourful Sunday Bloc will look with this theme in full swing. Streetfighter and Tekken battles will be breaking out all over the place and Pacmen and women will be gobbling up everything in their paths.

Last year’s theme was effectively suits for the lads, dresses for the girls. In essence, so is this year’s. The Bloc team do a fantastic job organising this amazing festival. I’m sure the last thing they need to worry about is trying to come up with an imaginative and fun fancy dress theme every year. We’ve decided to take it upon ourselves to inject a bit of colour into the fancy dress theme this year. Come join us!

While I'm not mad on the theme its still going to be hella funny,

Whoever came up with the idea to change it to computer game characters needs to be taken out the back and beaten with a hosepipe.

Why? We considered other options but decided it was the broadest. Its basically a loophole to dress up as whatever you want, there is a computer game made of nearly every Film, War & Sporting event, so you could come as Batman, Indiana Jones, A WW1 soldier, A French resistance fighter, Mohammad Ali or Wayne Rooney etc etc
