Best headphone poll

There's been a good few threads about headphones, so since I've to buy a new pair in the next week or two, I thought I'd try and finally settle the debate on what we think are the best budget headphones, i.e. under €100, for club DJing.

I've taken all the most mentioned headphones from the other threads and popped them into a poll.

At the moment I'm between the Sennheiser HD202s, the Sony V700s and the Sennheiser EH2200s, but I could be persuaded to splash out a bit more depending on whether it'd be worth it.

    DJ or production?

Distinguish what they're for before you choose.

    For dj: hd25
    For producer: beyed dynamic dt100

    Personal preferences.

    Sony*v700s*for*me,*the*HD25's*are*excellent*but*just*don't*do*it*for*me*while*DJing.*I*used*to*use*them*daily*in*work,*the*sound*

The 700's on the other hand are extremely comfortable, sound fantastic and feel great. The only downside is you either where them
    DJing or not at all.

    No*Spaces*:(

Sony v700s for me, the HD25's are excellent but just don't do it for me while DJing. I used to use them daily in work, the sound
quality is excellent but in my opinion they are two small.

    DJing or not at all.

How did you manage to type the spaces in the second half?

I don't usually use headphones too often outside DJing, and when I do I use a cheap €10 pair from HMV, so I think the Sonys sound good. Possibly a bit pricey though...

It's a problem with ubuntu and firefox, I added in the spaces myself by editing the post
and posting it again in chrome. I picked up the sony's for e85 in HMV about 6 months ago.

That's a decent price alright, but I was hoping to get something closer to €50, would you say paying the extra money'd be worth it?

My bad: savage case of "RTFP" there on my part.

I'd get anything but sony if I'm honest with you.
    I've been through almost their whole range now: mdrv150, 300, 500, 700
All have broken. None have been repairable beyond a point.

I wish I'd bought the sennheisers sooner. I would have saved hundreds of quid replacing parts instead of replacing whole headphones. Hd25 are my personal favourite, but some buddies say the "just too small" thing and prefer others in the sennheiser range.

I agree too, that sony's upper end (500 and 700) you wear "dj'ing or not at all" and I had a pair of skull candy's for years just for listening.
The sonys do sound good. Its just the swivel bit at the cup that constantly snaps. They're too expensive to be just going through them.

Maybe pioneer or technics have a model at the mid price range? Allen and heath also have cans out right now...Skull candy do nice looking cans, but I've never heard the sound on the mid-range models.

Basically I'm saying exhaust all options before choosing sony, if you can. They really just fall apart after virtually no time at all.

Scrape together all money you can get your hands on: cheap headphones wreck your ears, and lower mid-range ones fall apart, so you'll replace time and time again, spending multiples of the price of the upper-end stuff.

Play the long-game with this one, and you wont have any "what headphones?" posts for a good few years.

It's something I only learned not so long ago, and wish I'd known years ago.

I said the HD25 but, for the price, the Technics RPDJ 1200's are great

They look great alright, do you know anything about the RPDJ 1210s? They stock them in SoundsAround, wonder if they're as good, or even better?

I don't think the HD25s are for me, somehow I don't think I'd fancy small cans.

Its actualy the 1210's i own just checked them there. I put a fair bit of research in when i was chosing my new headphones and these got great reviews from loads of sites. The difference between them and the 1200's is that the 1210's are silver and have a coiled chord.

They fit your ears great and block out the outside noise really well. they are a bit on the heavey side i found compared to others but its no big deal.

ring up and ask how much soundsaround are selling them for.
Heres a link to them on musicstore.de

Sony MDR -v700 for me, it's like having your ears caressed by angels.

Unfortunately, the ATM kind of decided for me, I ended up getting a pair of Sennheiser HD 205s, I'd heard good things about them, and I needed something for tomorrow night.

I have had my 700's over 7 years now, and not a bother out of them, used daily aswell at that!

I also have a pair of skullcandy hesh's and I love em, practically weightless while on your head, and the sound is fantastic out of them!

I'm going to get a pair of skullcandy sk pro's when I'm in the states next month, they'd be a more Dj friendly set of cans than the hesh as they have swivel cups and a coiled rubber cord!
