Hello there I was just wondering there is a Helicopter landing and taking off ever day beside a house near the luas line in Cabinteely/tullyvale.

Minsters couldnt afford that so who is it just wondering who it is flying around.

Elaborate please? Is it Civillian or Military, if Civillian whats her reg? Could be just a privately owned Helicopter or a Corporate/Business Helicopter.

There's a privately owned helipad up at the top of Lehaunstown Lane behind what looks like a farm house.

Last time I was there, there was about 5 or 6 turbine choppers mostly N reg, fuel bowser and a haybarn converted into what looks like a hanger.

the OH got me a helicopter tour of Dublin a couple of years ago and the take off/landing was behind a large house near cabinteely. not sure if anyone lived in the house. Ill try and dig out some pics later on.

The pad in question is just off the Brennanstown Road, about half way up from Cabinteely village on the left hand side just before you take that sharp right. Down that lane way about half a mile. The pad is next to a hanger. The day i was there, there was a Bell 206, and R44 and an Augusta 109. Its at the back of what looks like and old farmhouse.

The 'daily commuter' coming out of Laughlanstown Rd is a large helicopter, either dark green or brown with a white stripe along the side.
From what I was told, the guy has/had an office in Louth and it takes only 40 mins to get there.

Stee - The Google earth image from 1st June 06 shows the bowser in the same position as that which appears in your photo... and a very odd shaped piece of ground-work just below the landing site.

just after looking at those groundworks now, they look like the new luas extension. They come from the ballyogan direction disappear at the glenamuck rd and end down in cherrywood by the roundabout.

    Yep thats the LUAS extension.

If you use the bird eye view on Bing maps you clearly see where the place is. No sign of any helicopters though
