I note from Twitter that Lance Armstrong and Chris Lieto (2nd IM Hawaii 2009) had a TT-off yesterday in Kona. 14 miles. Lance 1st, Chris 2nd 15 secs back. here's a picture of Lances Powermeter http://twitpic.com/13t6bo
Pre and post race footage on Youtube, hopefully some mid race stuff to come.

Firstly the powercontrol 7 is lovely, much nicer than my PCV

Secondly if lance thinks he can win IM Kona I hope this hammers home the point that he will have to swim mid 40s and bike as he knows how and then run a 2:40 off that bike.

Max power - never reveal power numbers, rule number one.

    Ripped from slowtwitch:

    "few 'local facts' to consider:
    - lance has been here since the Tour Down Under training hard; real hard. Lieto was on a family vacation... with his bike hanging out at A-Bay swimming/running.
    - lance has the ultimate setup here; mechanics/coaches/accommodations/riders/etc. Lieto has his family with him at the Hilton (i.e. doubt Lieto is getting the rest Lance is getting), no kitchen, kids probably kicking him in the face at night sleeping, access to the things lance does, etc. repeat, lance has the ultimate setup here...
    - both were riding 53/39s. Lieto prior to start said he "would be spinning out". I bet his avg cadence is closer to 80-85 than lance's 90+ (from lance's srm he hit 100+). tough to do that for a triathlete... "

    Excuses

However you look at it, it is not reasonable to expect a triathlete to beat a pro cyclist on a bike.
