    Hi,
I'm new to airsoft and was going to buy this as my first gun http://www.mainirishairsoft.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=228

But i heard that it doesn't have a good battery.
How would I know what size to get or how powerful?

    Thanks for any help :D

They are nice gun for starting off with!! a common problem you get with them is the selector switch stopping working on them!! as far as I can remember they take a small type battery in the stock you can pick up an extra battery for cheap enough if you find the one you have is not up to par!

Personally unless your set on getting a spetz or ak variant as a first gun I would reccomend and M4/M16 HK416 or G36 sportslines mostly they are all fairly reliable with parts easily available for them should something go wrong. also they all have rails on the for attactments (laser, lights scopes etc) upgrade parts also readily avaibile for them too and the price is similar to the spetz you were considering :D hope this helps

No, no, no, no! Stay away from sportlines! Go for Dboys, JG, Cyma, etc, far better quality and build than sportlines. As for batteries, go for Intellect and Firefox, I've found them both to be excellent (some people have other views on Firefox). I've heard some bad things about ASG batteries, apparently they have a tendency to randomly "die" or lose their charge. A JG AEG will take a 9.6V battery quite easily, but be warned, if you put a 9.6V battery in, you may void the warranty.

All AEGs have plenty of parts available if you know where to look, after the externals, gearboxes are pretty much the same, different shapes and some have less parts, or more (Version 7 *shudder*). All retailers offer a warranty on their AEGs, some a 30 day and some 3 months, it depends on the retailer.

    Sportlines are crap stay away!!!!
the JG brand of airsoft guns are fantastic for the price you pay
so anything by that brand is likely to be a nice buy.

M4 Range are common as Muck but they have loads
of stuff you can bolt on, strap on, screw on, change etc
and the advantage is extra Mags are also common as muck
and cheap. I personally hate them (only have 3 M4 alikes)

The JG G36 I reckon would be a perfect buy!
I've never heard anyone say a bad word about them.

I've only 2 AK type Airsoft AEG's ugly as sin but you just got to have one or two of them had trouble with
mags and also aftermarket mags fitting and feeding issues..

(Or do what I would do, if you cant decide Buy ALL! :D )

If you really want an AK, buy a Kalash, I hate AK's but they're brilliant, incredible build quality, especially the full steel and wood ones.
