Laying - Does anyone do it?

As it says on the tub, is anyone here seriously into laying bets? It strikes me as a far safer way and more calculated way to have gambling as a hobby. I'm up on the theory, but the practice is an entirely different ballgame. Can anybody clue me in?

I do, but only to trade on a small scale, or on footie where a draw is likely.

good idea for footie i think when you can lay a team
and have the draw and other team running for you.
you'd really want to know your stuff if it was
horses you were thinking of laying.
I used to lay the horses and made a little profit on
it but i found it the most addictive form of betting
i ever encountered and in the end the small amount
i was making didnt justify the amount of time i spent
on it so i reluctantly knocked it on the head.
I was laying reasonably short priced horses myself (under 3-1)

For football it's a great option if you just don't fancy a team to win. Instead of backing the opponents and the draw - just back the team to lose.

Like the other replies-it really depends what sport you intend laying. With racing unless your really well clued in it can be costly.I had myself convinced i was on to a winner with a few tactics i was using on betfair but eventually got cleaned out with a bad streak. That said there are some good oppurtunities and i found a lot of success laying short price favourites in American Maiden races.Again in soccer there can be decent opputunities if you watch favourite price movements in the lead up to cup games. You need a decent account balance though to allow for getting stung from time to time.

I know I should lay more than I should !
    .
What price range do u lay in the American Maidens?

If you start with £10, and you lay 5 10-1 shots a day, does that mean you win £5 a day?

10/1 shots win aswell, I like to lay short price favs in maidens, nursery's and the like myself.

Thanks for telling me. But that was not what I asked you was it.

yes you will if you lay each 10/1 shot for a €1. you win €1 if it wins and your liability is €10
