RF in RF out > What's the point?

Serious question from a FTA novice, what are the RF in & RF out sockets meant to be used for on the back of a satellite receiver? Obviously you can feed the signal (same station) to another room, but is there any other benefit to be had from these sockets? foe example; If you have a PVR STB, can you record the RF signal ? (from your RTE Aerial for example)?

    Curious . . .

Its mostly for other room stuff

Although if you have an anicent (pre c 1984) TV set without SCART sockets (or if there arent enough sockkets for all your gear) they can be handy
