I have a laptop for a few years & use it basically for playing my music collection through my stereo and used to go online the odd time with dial up internet.
We got rid of phone line a few months ago and got wireless internet so now I can't use laptop for internet - or can I?
Is there something I can buy that will allow my laptop access wirless broadband?

If it has a USB port, you can getan USB wifi adapter. If it doesnt, but has a PCMCIA slot, you can get a PCMCIA USB adapter. Post the model no, and someone may help you better. It _might_ take an internal wifi card too.

There is indeed. Assuming you have USB ports and your operating system is Win 98 SE+ you could get something like this.

Or you could go with a PCMCIA card assuming your laptop has one of these ports (which it probably does). In this case you could go with something like this.

What's the make & model of the laptop?

Jaysus id imagine it would have to be very old not to have wifi

Yes it is ancient but it does the job so no point in buying a new one. It is a HPomnibook xe4100 - does that make sense? I reckon it's over 10 years old but that a guess

By the way it has a USB port - other than that I'm clueless! Thanks a million lads for the help

You should be ok with either option so. This appears to be the manual for your machine. If you look at page 15 can see where the PCMCIA slot(s) is(are) in case you want to do it that way..
