is the M6 just the old N6 is this area or an entire new road? Looks to be the sam from the separated exits. Just watch out for exit signs to Moate I imagine, its a big enough place to be signed and not cutoff from the motorway

    here's a map anyway

Junction 6 or 7 will get you to Moate. One either side, 7 is on the west side of Moate, nearest Athlone.

Here's a picture of the sign you'll be looking for: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:M6inWestmeath.JPG

Taken from the M6 motorway wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M6_motorway_(Ireland)

Edit: probably a bit late now.

In fairness, I could forgive someone for confusing the N6 on Google Maps as the old N6 rather than the M6.

The M6 opened as the N6 High Quality Dual Carriageway and was redesignated as the M6 after a while. Google and Yahoo are very slow in updating their maps to reflect the redesignation.

For anyone who might not know, OpenStreetMap is far more update when new motorways and major roads are concerned. Not so good for some of the smaller towns though. But if it's motorway routes and junction layouts you're interested in then OpenStreetMap is the place to check.
