An Absoloute legend of a man no doubt the best midfielder of last 20 years.

Enjoy retirement and thanks for the memories.

    Surprised he's retiring tbh.

    Still has loads to offer.

Will probably have to drive to Gallerus for training with the Gaeltacht two or three times a week instead of driving to Killarney to train with Kerry.

Doesn't really make sense to me...

Have always been an admirer of him and loved the battles he and Whelo had over the years.

One thing Darragh, any chance you might ask the two brothers to join you in retirement? ;)

Great player. Can't be much left in the tank at this stage.

Legend Darragh boy... What a career, we will never see a midfielder dominate for as long a period again. Thanks for everything Darragh, you made growing up with this Kerry team a wonderous thing.

In all honesty he was the best midfielder I ever saw. Great player and one of the real characters of GAA in the last 20 years.

Hope he enjoys his well-deserved retirement.

no more will we see him rising majestically to pluck a ball from the skies

no more will the stands resonate with kerryfolk shouting "go on darragh boy"

no more will we see the telepathic understanding he had with tomas, and we could rest secure in the knowledge that one or other of them had the ball

remember the 2 mighty catches he made against limerick down in killarney that saved our bacon

"an fear laidir" will be sorely missed

one of the greatest ever, and definitely the greatest of his time

i think everyone - kerryfolk, opposition and neutrals acknowledge the greatness and legendary status of the man

and a rogue and a gentleman as well

Darragh - míle buiochas ó chroi do gach rud
    slán agus beannacht

What a player...broke enough of our hearts in Cork in his time though!!

Some man to field a ball!

just had to post to correct this error being made all day.

Darragh has 4 all stars not 3 as is being repeated in media all day,
    fact
    all stars 2000, 2002, 2006 and 2007
should have at least 3 more and 2 player of the year awards!! least they could do is give credit to the ones he got!

    what the legend!

wp Darragh, true legend of the game...

I wonder is he gone for good?

He could well be back in july after their yearly loss in munster and have one of their "clear the air" training sessions where they puck the heads off each other.
    You'll see.

I'm sure after 15 years he's fairly used to it.

Even from a business point of view for a guy trying to sell houses I would have thought being part of the Kerry setup would be a good move.

What you don't seem to get, is that other people can have opinions different to your own. And if that fact upsets you, well, thats your problem.

From Kerry and am not one bit offended by the above post.
These training sessions do happen because we are a proud folk and being the best is something we pride ourselves on.
Im surprised at the timing of the announcement. Perhaps Jack gave a deadline for a decision. If we get hammered by Cork in Munster which is a possibility then speculation on Daragh will mount again particularly given the impact of Mike McCarthy last season.
Having one All-Ireland title less then the then likes of Jacko, Spillane and Uncle Paudi is something has surely gone through the head of Darragh lately.

Two of the greatest midfielders gone in the space of a year now. Game is poorer without them.

    Don't they all have 8?

And Daragh has 6? I think your right actually sorry.
In fairness to Dara winning 6 today is probably worth 8 for the 70s and 80s period anyway but if he was only one behind perhaps he would have tried to equal it.

Oh well if that is the case then there is no comparison IMO Darragh O'Se one of the best players of his generation, and Whelan is not in his league

I'd agree too, it's the fact that sots is a Dubliner that made me think that's who he meant :)

Good. Too many over sensitive Kerry posters on here who have a fit if someone doesn't worship Kerry as their Lord and Savior.

And Dara was easily the best midfielder i've ever seen. Thats why I think he'll be back.
