you need a safe for any rifle, a shotgun can be broken and stored in different parts of the house, but to be honest i think anyone with a gun should have a safe

sorry i did not mention it i have a airglide storage box with the gun in it and a trigger lock and the box is locked and i have a small safe with the firing bolt and ammunition in it and thats screwed to the wall everything is nice and secure because i have kids but even with all this i still have to get a full size safe

might be wrong but as far as im aware it needs to be a full gun safe, some one with a better understanding of it will clear it up for you

just looking at the si on security and it only states for 1 non restriced shotgun to be broken and secured in seperate location and use a trigger lock.
you are right in saying that a single rifle is not mentioned or a single non restriced gun of any type.
I would assume from that you have the right idea of storing bolt and ammo in a secure area and bolt removed from gun.
however you should contact your local fo for more info as some supers can ask for additional security which you will have to comply with.
