    Hello all,

Just as we'd been getting into a reasonable routine for the London beers, the site hacking goes and takes out boards.org.uk. I'm posting here to get a feel for who wants to come along and what sort of dates would suit.

I'm thinking the weekend of the 13th of March, and since it worked well last time I'm going to suggest we try the Ship and Shovell again, starting around 7pm.

    Yays, nays and maybes?

am around- how come the UK site is still down?

I think the admins want to ensure that the uk site is patched and protected from the kind of hack that affected the main site, since we've started having some regular traffic there. Hopefully it'll be back soon.

I should be able to make that. Was all set for the one in January but then the site went down and wasn't sure if the drinks were still on!!

Getting home for St Patrick's Day? Lucky you :)

Yup, Fysh is right, the development team want to make sure that the boards.org.uk site is as secure as this site but they have a lot on their plates at the moment so boards.org.uk is further down the priority list.

However, Fysh is keeping the beers going so that's great.

Once again I won't be there...the perils of living in East Anglia :D
As I said to Fysh, normally I'd only be able to make weekend beers but as it happens myself and Mrs r3nu4l are spending most weekends painting and decorating our house so when my work week finishes, the weekend work starts :)

I don't want to commit again and then not show up, but I will keep an eye on this forum for the details.

I really, really, really promise to actually try to get to this one. Like really. By 'weekend of the 13th' do you mean the actual 13th?

Yep, just to confirm this weekends Beers are on Saturday 13th, starting off around 7:30, at the Ship & Shovell. There's a McDonald's near by if you fancy getting grub there, otherwise your best bet is to eat before heading out.

If you haven't joined us before, PM me and I'll send you my mobile number so you can find us on the night.

Wahey, the 4-barrier has been wrecked! 6 of us there tonight, with much filth and nonsense spoken. God knows what the staff at the Ship & Shovell make of us, but they seemed amused by our banter so it's all good :)

    Ha ha, fantastic stuff :)

Now if only the site was back up and running :(

Also, while we're at it, what's everyone doing for the 17th? I can't even go out this year because I've to be up at 2.30 am on Thursday morning to catch a flight and attend a symposium in Berlin so I need my wits about me :)

I'm so sorry I'm missed the drinks last Saturday. Went to TGI's on the Friday night and was as sick as a dog for the whole weekend

Have just about recovered to celebrate Paddy's day!!!

    Alright lads,

I know this is a bit off-topic so, admins feel free to move this message. It's just everyone from London is in this thread so it's definitely the best thread for what I want.

I'm moving to London in late May or June, depending on whether I get a job before I leave. I have an Architecture degree and a HDip in IT. Just wonderin if anyone would know what London is like for odd jobs at the minute? I don't expect to get a job in architecture due to the downturn and I've probably got a slim chance of getting one in IT due to lack of experience. However, I'm willing to work at nearly anything just to start out. I'm hopefully going to be staying with a mate in a central location, Hammersmith I think. Anyway I'm just putting it out there in case any of you have general advice for me.

    Cheers in advance.

Hey Bobon, your best bet is to contact recruitment agencies specialising in the areas. I know that Paramount Recruitment are often looking for IT people. Don't know about any other agencies as I'm not in IT or architecture myself. :)
