Did you even read into Mouse Morris's interview re the weighing up of his horse. Gold cup winner or not the weight he was given gave him no chance of winning the national. Sure the horse is back in form over hurdles but look at his last few chases. Beat out the gate and was dropped feck all.

True. A grade 2 hurdle at navan over 2 mile 5 against what I though was rather weak opposition is totally different to a 4 mile 4 steeplechase against 39 competitors.
    Sometimes the weights are ridiculous.

6lbs lower wouldnt have made a major difference imo, hes being a moany fool.
If the National was his target all year he should be running him.

Why would thye have put him in two graded hurdle races if they wanted the national?
Wouldn't an extended handicap hurdle have been better off, where if he had won he wouldn't have been punished too much if it wasn't a hot contest?

did you check his irish official mark ?????? last chase he ran in in IRELAND he was rated 157 (down from 174 in his hey day ) so the english handicapper allots him 2 lb less than his last irish mark and thats unfair??
if you read the interview morris is pissed off cause he could of ran in england in an egg an spoon off 149 ,and threw his dummy cause of the supposedly extra 6 - its the only race in the world that doesnt rely on handicap marks and i think it was a fair evaluation and anyone would be delighted to get within 6 lbs of a mark and still be on 11st - he is a gold cup winner -if morris enters him in a handicap in ireland would he kick up if he gets given 157 ? i think not -
chase form since his return reads 1132p230

when he ran in the hennessy he was rated 20lbs inferior to denman -denman ran off 174 that day so deduct 20 lbs gives you 154 -now denman had come down from 182 because of fall and won the race and went back to 181 - so this should have been his true mark -so deduct 20 lb from that -161-i can see the handicappers reasoning in giving him 11st 1lb - its all theory but i believe thats his mark ,i believe he is well capable of winning off this mark ,again only speculation as he and most off them never ran 4m4f in there lives -

ii dont kknow whether you are taking the piss but hurdle ratings have nothing to do with chase ratings ,hence why so many national horses are sent over hurdles to prepare have a read thru this http://www.turfclub.ie/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=45&Itemid=53

war of attrician i just noticed has a revised rating of 150 over fences and he got 3 lbs for winning the hurdle on sunday bringing him to 150 over hurdles also -

1.No need to be smart. If i was taking the piss I wouldn't do it in a horse racing forum, maybe down the pub.
    2. thanks for clearing that up,I wasn't aware of how they were handicapped

Btw WOA is rated 149 for the grand national. It was a case of the top weights getting 6lbs LESS than their official rating not WOA getting 6lbs more. Mouse Morris seems to have jumped the gun with his comments.

His weight looks a bit high imo but morris is being very stupid ruling him out straght away.

He will never get a chance to run n the race again.

What if he comes 2nd or 3rd in the world hurdle not beaten too much by big bucks.

3 bags of sugar would'nt make that much difference if he took to the fences and stayed the trip well which he should.
ground should be good which he prefares aswell.

Mouse Morris (War Of Attrition 11st 1lb): "'I think with that weight they are basically saying they don't want us to run.

"'If Albertas Run is rated 164 and we are getting 9lb, that means he's rating us 155.

"I entered our horse in a handicap chase at Sandown the other week and they rated him 149 so I don't know how they've come up with 11st 1lb to be honest.

"We've decided we're not going to go as we won't be going where we're not wanted and I don't know how he can justify that weight.

"The plan now would be to go straight to the World Hurdle and he'll then probably have his last run at the Punchestown Festival in the Guinness Gold Cup or the big staying hurdle race."

this is what i based my comments on and it was morris words that they rated him 155 -it sounded childish of him saying they not going were they not wanted ,thats what prompted my comment of spitting the dummy -

i agree he jumped the gun

Yeah he stated Albertas Run is rated 164. He is but runs off a mark of 158 here, as do Notre Pere and Madison Du Berlais. See here

yes the 149 and 158 are marks just for the national ,racing post shouldnt have them under official really -so when albertas run is adjusted back to 164 morris must think that woa will still be 9 lbs behind ,that probably where he got 155 but inreality he prob wont go 155 official-

hope they reconsider and let him run

    what did he expect????
the horse won the gold cup, i dont care how long ago it was.
imho war of attrition deserved every ounce of that weight, particularly as he's back on form of late.

    my two cents
