Not sure how to cross post, so apologies for the duplication...posted this in the Gael Force 2009 thread in the Events subforum, might get a wider audience here...

Signed up for the May Connemara challenge, if that goes ok, hoping to signup for GaelForce in August.

Anyone got any recommendations on trail runners.
I've heard of Solomans & Innov8, but from this page I can see Nike, Adidas & Asics all do some as well.

Anyone able to advise on a good shop in Ireland to purchase from?
Am Galway based so if there's a good stockist here in the west, that would help.

If it helps, I wear ASics Kayano/2140 type regular runners, so something with similar support in a trail runner would be helpful.

I'm not sure about all trail runners, but certainly some of them have little support compared to a pair of road runners, probably because of the ground conditions you're running on. Running on grass/mud etc you wouldn't need as much support as you would on solid ground.

I have a pair of the Adidas Swoop 2 that are on that page, (not in that yucky colour though, but incidentally that's a very good price) and while they're great for off road running there's not a whole lot of support compared to my Kayanos and they tend to rub the arch of my foot after while but I'm slightly flat footed anyway.

I know a few who have done this in Solomons AW's and found it spot on. Depends on your feet I suppose, one lad commented that there was little support in his but I have seen that you can get them with support built-in to the shoe.

Good luck with GF, its great crack ;)

Got a pair of North Face Hunky Chunky's from Gaynors.co.uk

Much cheaper there than the NF shop, but haven't worn them in over a month - very little support.

That site is good, though; seems cheaper overall. Once you know what you want

Look through the links from the imra thread, there's some great footwear advice.

Thanks for the replies, some useful info there...

    How about this?

Only £30 is a hell of a bargain, but only if its a suitable shoe for something like the Connemara Challenge or Gael Force.
    Anyone able to advise?

    EDIT:-
Actually - a quick google on reviews has me running for the hills (pardon the pun) away from this.
