    Today (Tuesday) evening at 7pm in Kane G19, there will be a special debate on the topic of Science & Religion.

    Guest speakers:
    - John Waters, musician, author and Irish Times columnist.
    - Peter Atkins, author and professor emeritus of Chemistry at Oxford University.

    The chairperson will be Dr. Joel Walmsley of UCC's Philosophy Department.

    Further information on speakers:

    John Waters is a playwright, musician and columnist with The Irish Times. He has previously written for Hot Press and the Sunday Tribune, and served as editor of both Magill and In Dublin magazines. A devout Christian, he regularly writes and participates in debates on the topic of religion in modern society. He has written five books, most recently 2007’s Lapsed Agnostic, which charts his journey through faith, agnosticism and back again.

    Peter Atkins is a prolific writer of both textbooks and popular science books. He was the first Senior Member forthe Oxford Secular Society and an Honorary Associate of the National Secular Society. He sits on the advisory board of The Reason Project and has regularly participated in debates with religious figures such as Alister McGrath, William Lane Craig, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, and Richard Swinburne.
