Advice on downloadable games

    Hey guys

I bought Flower last night, and with it, made my first purchase on PSN. €2.99 seemed like ridiculously good value, and I'm delighted with it so far.

So.... I'm looking for advice on other games to pick up. I put €30 in the wallet, so I've €27 to play around with. What are the essential titles that I simply must buy??

I only have 2 'rules'... 1. It has to be a PS3 title (i.e. no recommending Vagrant Story or Final Fantasy VIII) and 2. It has to be exclusive, because if it's decent and cross-platform, I already own it on 360.

Thanks in advance. If anyone recommends something half as good as Flower, this thread will = success.

Critter Crunch - My favourite download, really good puzzle game
Supersardust HD - A twin stick shooter
Wipeout HD - futuristic racing game
Pixeljunk- Probably shooter (a puzzle shooter I guess)

Wipeout HD is possibly the best game available on PS3 at the moment. Near perfect.

Pixeljunk Monsters is great, if you like Tower Defense games. I'm not a huge fan of them in general but I loved PJ Monsters. I'd throw in a +1 for Wipeout HD and Super Stardust HD too.

    Another vote for CritterCrunch.

WipeOut HD is a brilliant game, but might not appeal to every body.

Battlefield 1943 for €7.99 I think, is still great fun, if you want to try out war games. Download the free 30 mins demo first. And if you decide to buy the full game, all you need is to download and apply a small license key file (4kb or so).

+1 for everything mentioned above, although I've never played critter crunch.

Savage Moon : Very VERY good tower defense. Faster paced than Monsters.
flOw : Don't know how to describe this game but for 2.99 [I think], you can't go wrong.
High Velocity Bowling : Does what it says on the tin, plus online play. Works like Wii.
Super Rub a Dub : Just a brilliant calming game. Get free starter pack then if you like, purchase a license file.
Burnout Paradise : If you don't have the Disk version, this is a MUST buy. Marvelous. Probably the best game on PSN along with Wipeout HD.
Uno : I was hard pressed to even consider purchasing this. Like, it's a card game... on the PS3. Then I downloaded the demo and was hooked. Purchased it 10 minutes later. Brilliant.

Bomberman ULTRA : Classic retro game brought to life in HD glory. EIGHT player online included :)
Comet Crash : Another tower defense but with a difference.. You also get to attack the AI towers. I love these games TD games.
Gravity Crash : Another classic retro brought to HD glory but with a twist.
Mushroom Wars : Tower Defense with huge re-playability.
RA3's Commander's Challenge : If you don't want to purchase the full disk based game, get this. You don't need to own the full game. It gives you loads of skirmish challenges at a fraction of the cost.
Rag Doll Kung Fu : Just good damn fun.
Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars : Just brilliant stunt car game made even better when you play on line.
Zuma : One of the Pop Games classics. Gets VERY hard as you progress.

+1 for burnout paradise....its the game I have put most amount of time into. Its currently available on the US PSN with all the downloadable content for a mere $30....at that price its a steal, damn sale of the century. I didn't mention it as it is cross platfrom, but its simply awesome in a totally awesome way :D

Thanks for all the advice guys. Looks like I'll be picking up Wipeout, SuperStardust HD and Critter Crunch. Will probably pick up fl0w, because from what I gather it's from the Flower people.

I already own Uno, Burnout Paradise, Battlefield 1943 (all on 360). BF1943 should be a mandatory purchase for anyone without it and Burnout Paradise is a brillant racer, and handles brilliantly with a wheel - brings back so many arcade memories.

    Keep them coming!

Get the extra DLC for Super Stardust HD. You won't go wrong.

Critter Crunch sucked away another 4 hours or so of my life this weekend (but I finally destroyed you, puzzle mode!). Well recommended, although prepare for one more go...

Pixeljunk Shooter is great fun too - fun physics shooter that has plenty of ideas. Short enough, but very enjoyable.

The Last Guy is also fun, but uber quirky google-maps zombie survival game with no weapons. Try before you buy sort of game.

I started playing P.A.I.N again over the last few nights. Online Fortress is good, it's still a decent game, overall.

Yay at last someone has mentioned this. It's brilliant. Such a simple idea and done with such good humour.
