Getting into third level teaching

    Hey all,

Im doing a BTEC Sound Engineering course at the moment and Im now considering my options to do a degree in the subject.

I have always wanted to go into education, before I decided to do sound engineering I had the engineering teaching course in UL on my CAO.

I know jobs are crazy at the moment but Im trying to stay on the path of doing what I love before I have to maybe rethink my career path due to jobs.

So, to teach in a third level institution I was told a degree will do but a masters would be better money wise. Would I also need an Hdip?

Also, are there any part time ways to get into a position to teach maths say in a college of further education for example?

Very general questions I know but Im trying to get some kind of structure sorted for the next few years or should I say my life? haha

I suppose if I had to answer the question of where do you want to be in 10 or 20 years Id love to be in a leading position of a sound engineering course in a college. Maybe, go to a college and help develop the course into better things and end up being a course coordinator type job.

    Thanks for any help
    bbk
