Do a channel scan on a UPC HD box there are 152 tv channels.

Out of the 152 Rte Two and Satanta are on twice plus Euronews is on a few times.

Count the number of channels in the EPG it's 152 RTE and Satanta do use double the bandwidth.

Can anybody offer their opinions on this banner taken from their site?

    Are they lying or mistaken?

They took the radio stations in to account?

I was thinking that 36 radio channels plus 152 is 188 still missing 8.

Also the banner says digital TV not radio.

I know it says tv, but you cant buy the radio on its own, it comes with the tv, its part of the digi box so i imagine its included.

I understand and so do you but for new and potential subscribers this is misleading.

Ye, suppose that true all right. Personally i would be checking out what channels are on the plan rather then the number, but they could advertise 150 tv and 36 radio stations, but its upc they dont really care about the consumer

It should also say UP to 10 HD Channels.

They still advertise eg Starpoint Radio though its long gone.

They (ie CS) do have a habit of saying what you would like to here - FX and Sky Real lives have still not appeared but there own CS said Good Food/Watch/Yesterday would also be appearing..... then again they also said that Chelsea TV,Racing UK,ESPN America and LFC TV would remain part of the setanta pack.....unfortunately the term 'invitation to treat' comes to mind....

I suppose it all depends on which package your on. If you were on the max package with H.D., then you would conceivably have up to 196 channels (the E.s.p.n.'s, Sky Arts 1; Hallmark (in Dublin??); probably FX whenever its added; Discovery real time; Home etc.). Notice the poster never mentioned which package they were on. If he was on select extra, he might only have 152.

Does not matter what pack there are only 152 channels in the EPG that is counting everything Zee TV and the porn channels.

RTE and Setanta don't use double the bandwidth, despite appearing twice in the EPG. There are simply two entries for the channel in the EPG so that it appears twice. So for Setanta, if you type in 105 or 401, you are still tuning to the one channel.

It says up to 196 Channels which means the 152 tv channels +the radio Channels and then the HD channels that won't show up on your ordinary box I imagine thats where it comes from it's just marketing where they don't tell you specifically that they have included radio "channels".

You sure about RTÉ? I had always wondered about Setanta (though didn't know how to find out) but RTÉ Two thing only broadcasts at certain hours.

They really should get RTÉ News Now, if possible. Doubt it would cost them much/anything, so why not?

There are 152 lines in the EPG if you do a channel scan on a UPC HD box it returns 152 TV channels.

What makes you think RTE TWO and Satanta do not use double the bandwidth?

Plus there was a sound problem on Satanta 401 a few weeks ago and 105 was fine seems like different streams to me.

Did the scan on a HD box 152 TV and 36 Radio.

    Standard box says 142.

The banner says Digital television nothing about radio and it says up to 196 channels.

I only have 89 tv and 35 radio here in Mullingar, my street must be the last one on the upgrade map, nearly everywhere else in town has been done at this stage:(

Maybe UPC transmit up to 196 channels. However not every channel is available in every region. Could this, while adding the digital radio, make up the short fall?

All in all, I don't like the way UPC does business but for the money, I can't go with anyone else. Having said that, I am now refusing to give them more money than I have to.

Look at all the people who said I did not understand or I got it wrong.:D

Anyway fair play to UPC they are big enough to correct their error.:)

187-the 36 radio channels is 151 however the box tunes in 153 so I was correct Rte Two and Satanta Ireland are on there twice using double the bandwidth.

UPC now exclude these from the count in the new banner fair play to them.:D

I will let them away with the Euronews thing each stream is in a different language useful to students I guess.:D
