Projecting from laptop to big-screen

    Hey guys,
    I have a birthday party coming up and want to create a photo slideshow to project onto a big screen during the party.
    Im ok with creating the slideshow but what equipment exactly do I need to project it to a big screen?

    don't mean to sound smart, but a projector. unless you mean to a tv, then you would the relevant cable going from your laptop to the tv. again the cable would depend on your sockets etc.

    As IrishTonyO says, a projector is probably what you are looking for and they don't come cheap. However, if you do go down this route then the projector just plugs into the standard VGA connector which nearly every laptop has (it's the blue female socket somewhere on the laptop with 15 pins.

    Otherwise, if you go down the TV route a lot of flatscreens also tend to have a vga socket which you can hook up to the laptop or, failing that, have a look at your laptop for any other connectors which you can also see on your tv. My general rule of thumb when it comes to connections like these is, if it fits, it should work so don't be too afraid to plug stuff in and see what happens. Obviously don't do silly stuff though like forcing connectors in where they clearly don't belong.

    if he uses just a vga from pc to lcd - how can he transfer sound ?

    from the laptops 3.5mm headphone connection ?
