HEAD SHOP: Salvia Extract - Warning

I work in an Acute Psychiatric Unit and have witnessed first hand the effects of the freely available Salvia Divinorum.
Headshops are big news at the moment and a controversial talking point in my line of work.
In the past I have used recreational drugs with no significant adverse effects but not in recent years. As an experiment and in a hope to understand the drug Salvia I decided to try it.
I bought Salvia Divinorum extract x 40 online from the uk as did not want to be seen inside a headshop.

I smoked a very small amount (1 twenty-th the gram of the Salvia x 40) in a joint with tobacco. Three inhalations of it and I TRIPPED immediately having never tripped before i thought i was going to die, i became partially detached from my reality and believed that my life up to now had been a dream. Now i was waking up and leaving this dream behind. I thought I was going to die but did not want to let myself. Scary stuff! After about 15 minutes I came back but everything around me seemed really clear. Definitely left me with plenty to think about the following day.
A few days later I tried it again to see was this first experience a one off bad trip - this time with the same amount of extract the experience was much worse - almost identical feeling of being detached from reality but way worse even though I new it would pass. During this bad trip i actually threw the remaining salvia into my fire and vowed never again. Cold sweats during and for about and hour after and intense fear. Took me along time doing familiar things and reassuring myself before I become more stable.
Never again do I want to experience what i saw and felt.

I know I acted irresponsibly but now I know the effects, I should have known better i'm in my 30s and emotionally stable (at least was anyway :P)
The danger is that this product is available with out regulation to anyone especially those much younger and more vulnerable and with very little guidelines as to dosage or effects.
