I have this long running anxiety about the amount of friends I have.
Im happily married but my wife does not keep in touch with many people so our social life is mainly based around my friends.
I have about four friends in Dublin that it is relatively easy to meet up with. The rest are scattered around the country and I rarely see them Many now have kids making the situation even more difficult. Because I have moved so often I dont really have a home place. Nor Do I play sports which seem to be a great occasion of male bonding.

I do wonder if its my personality at times or that people over the age of 35 just dont really want to make more friends. I am attempting to join stuff but Im just a wee bit self conscious about it all. Some people just seem to acquire them very easily dont they?

It's true that some people find it easier to make friends, no matter what their age, but you need to give yourself a fair go before you decide that you have no hope.

And you don't need to play sports to make friends, you can make friends just watching them. And that can be in a stadium or in a pub. It makes no difference.

I started this thread but just thought I would clarify something s. I suffer the anxiety because I always think other people find it easier to get a long with people. I do have a slightly odd sense of humour and I regret failing to keep in touch with a great lot of people .However,it hurts me a lot when people dont want to meet.

Has anyone else a similar experience??

I do realise I have to make more of an effort to join a few things in my local area. Im not looking for that many new friends.Just one or two.
