Smallest satellite dish

    Hi all,

I want to get the smallest possible satellite dish that can pick up 19.2 and 28.2 (not at the same time).

In my apartment at the moment I have a sky minidish on the balcony on a tripod stand (I use one of those flat cables to bring the signal indoors) which I move between 19.2 and 28.2 manually myself.*

I am moving out of here and suspect that I may not be so lucky where I move to in that nobody has said anything to me about having the dish on a tripod on the balcony here.

I want a very small (maybe 30-36cm) satellite dish that I can maybe attach to the balcony guard rail in the evenings (or suction cup to the balcony door/window) for watching tv and then remove it again at night time.

The reason I need satellite over anything else is because my girlfriend is german thus I want to be able to get the german channels which I cannot do by paying for ntl etc.

I know Aldi and Lidl had camping dishes for sale but I don't think they are on sale atm.

Does anyone know of anywhere that sells very small dishes?

I will probably pay up to 120 euro for a satellite if it is very good.

    Thanks for any help/advice.

    * I had two lnbs on the dish with a diseqc switch. I was using a self made bracket to attach the 2nd lnb to the sky minidish but it was so sensitive because it was on an oval dish that any movement of the dish on the tripod caused signal problems - if it was mounted with a bracket to a wall it would have been ok.

Is your "minidish" the 43 cm or 60cm version ?

Dishes smaller than 43cm (other than the odd "Camping or "Portable" dish) are rare in UK/Ireland. Larger branches of Media Markt do stock them but Im not sure if they ship to Ireland.

Lidl usually bundle recievers with their dishes. (Dont think the dish can be bought seperately)

Bear in mind that small dishes arent recommended for reliable reception in Ireland but in cases like yours may be better than nothing.

Lidl had a camping kit a few weeks ago and I know they have some left in my local store in Gorey, so maybe they have some locally to you. I think the dish on these is 45cm but I'm open to correction.

Yes, I think my best option seems to be either go for a flat plate satellite like montgolfiere pointed to or something like "The Sqish"

and try and kind of camouflage them into the balcony so they are not seen.

The other possibility I have seen is the Arcon Sweety.

I think the most important thing is for me to get a south or south-east facing balcony so that the dish can be mounted as far in the balcony as possible thus not seen.
