Dublin Bus Deloitte Report

In mid 2008, A report into Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann operations was commissioned. It was published this time last year. The main recommendation was to simplify the route network and re-allocate buses according to customer demand. Dublin Bus agreed with the recommendations in its annual report but warned that the main obstacle would be "support for the changes envisaged from local representatives and from local communities" (political interference).

So now a year later, where is the new route network?

There is a full scale network review ongoing within Dublin Bus to be phased in during 2010.

In fairness this is a huge task and my understanding is that we should start to see the output of this in the coming months.

To illustrate how complex this task is, here's the Network Diagram showing all routes, as published in December:

    Also...

While local political interference on route changes is likely, how likely is political interference on the issue of 'competition' and giving other operators the change to run any new / changed routes?
