Climbing Frames.ie - too good to be true???

We want to get a big playset for our 5 kids. Theres a place near me in Naas - Backyard Adventures - that sells lovely climbing frame sets but they are very expensive, i.e. over €2,300 for a decent sized one.

I found a website called Climbingframes.ie who appear to be based in the UK. They sell very similar gear to the crowd in Naas but at almost half the price, incl. shipping to Ireland. Call me a cynic, but if something appears to be to good to be true, then I find it usually is.

However, if they are kosher, I could save a fortune buying from them. Has anyone had any dealing with them?

I am a cynic & proud:) I would not say they are too good to be true, the others are too expensive to be true!

Stuff like this can have massive margins, it is low turnover and people do not really know what price it should be in the first place, so they can take advantage. I do some weight-training and you should see the prices they charge for related equipment, I often make my own for a fraction of the cost -a tiny fraction. I made my own climbing rope very cheaply, I got gymnastic rings which were not cheap, but pittance compared to ones from a gymnastic supply store. Free standing chinup/dip stations also cost a fortune.

They site seems legit, and have another site http://www.climbingframesuk.com/ it might be cheaper to order on the UK site, it usually is if possible.

Here is another site that turned up http://games4outdoors.ie/index.php?cPath=23?osCsid=sh4hp6deqit4ho38el3v4bq1i0

Thanks for that James but the playsets I've seen on the web are bigger, have more swings etc and are cheaper by up to a thousand euro. While buying a playset here in Ireland would "do my bit for the economy", I personally haven't got the cash to buy Irish, despite my Boards nickname :(.

    Hi Dave,

Just wondering if you went ahead with the climbing frame and if it worked out ok. The prices look great and like you I'm a bit dubious cos the price seems pretty good.

    Thanks

A work buddy of mine bought a large set from the UK site last year. It was delivered within a week and he had no problem with them. No missing parts everything delivered in one lot.

    Hi Dave,

I've been looking at this site too and have had some contact with them, they're very prompt at answering queries. I'm just wondering if you did order from them and if so how did you get on?

    Thanks,

    Leana

I bought the belfort swing set and a playhouse. Good quality but there is an awful lot of work into putting them up. You need 2 people at the least and one with good knowledge of DIY / building. Very well priced compared to any local provider though. I would recommend them but be prepared to spend a day building it
