Upgrading Samsung Firmware

I have bought a new 46'' LE46B650 Samsung LCD. I can plug in a USB stick into the side and play some HD moves and pretty much all xvid and divx movies. I am wanting to play all HD movies, but I get an error on some movies "Audio codec not supported". I'm wondering if anyone has upgraded the firmware from the Samsung website, does it correct the codec issue. I'm presuming it's something to do with AC3 but don't know completely.

Also if anyone knows, what else does the firmware upgrade? I don't know off hand what firmware is on the TV off hand.
    Thanks

I'm thinking of buying this tv in the 40" version. The main things that were putting me off were some reviews I've been reading online. 1.The sound isn't meant to be good, bit tinny but that can easily be sorted with speakers. 2.Some people have reported it switching itself on & off making it unwatchable, some even said this didn't happen till after the guarantee ran out.
I love everything else about this tv, especially the fact it can play divx and the 3d combing. Was also in on the brink of getting the led b6000 but bit expensive. So what's the verdict on the b650, do you recommend it?

Its a great tv, the led b6000 isnt worth the extra cash!

The b650 is great value and easily the best in its price range but if you want to save even some more cash you could get the b550, i think its about 670 in powercity.

Only real differnence is you can play movies through the usb on the b650 but if you look around online or on avforums, there's a firmware you can download for the b550 so it will play avis and mkvs etc!!

Thanks for the swift reply. I'm replacing a 32" Sony so was torn between these two brands. Samsung reeled me in divx. The B550 looked good to me except it's only 50hz, been promising myself 100hz so will definitely go for the B650. Out of interest how much did you pay for it, in bricks & mortar shop it was priced at €899. They said they'll match the price if I see it cheaper elsewhere. Can't wait, I'm like a kid in a sweet shop:D

I think i paid about 900 for it in D.I.D.

Just in case your interested I picked up the LE32B550 today in Argos for €439. it's an offer they have on their website but you have to pick the tv up from a shop. The thing is the offer is no longer on the shops system so I just told them in the shop to check their site and the manager then honored the price.

Worth thinking about at that price.

I think he's looking for a 40" but that is a great price for the 32" considering the b450 is 400 almost everywhere!!!!

Have the 40" B650. Bought from pixmania.ie for €845 inc delivery & 2 year guarantee. Bought on a monday & delivered to the door on the wed, (2 days later)!! Cannot fault this at all. Absolutely amazing tv. Doesn't play .m2ts files (maybe another fix will sort this?) but plays all other files. Blu rays & HD files are suberb. Highly recommend this tv

Ok I've gone ahead and bought the Samsung 40b650, due to be delivered soon. I've been looking at the manual online so would appreciate if anyone could answer a question for me.
I have the UPC dvr, so in the manual it says choose cable system STD,IRC or HRC. So which to pick or is this unneccessary?

Ok scrap that last comment, tv simply set itself up. Also there's no rose tint to the glass on mine.
Getting HD box tomorrow, clarity and colours simply stunning so far on Digital+ so I'm hoping to be blown away by HD!

The rose tint is on the B651. Isn't as nice tho. HD on it is great, isn't it?!

Yes, the HD on it is absolutely amazing and has that 3D effect, with the picture almost popping out. Watching wildlife documentaries on it is altogether jaw dropping. Am soo happy with this tv. :D
