The fingerprint reader on my Acer is too sensitive. It usually takes several swipes to activate. I'd love to reset but can't find out how, can anyone help?

    Acer Aspire 8930 - Vista

I imagine it is in User Accounts. Biometric PC log-ons are a curse sales scam.

Thanks for replying. There is nothing in User Accounts re the fingerprint, it just mentions passwords, unfortunately.

    I found this on T'internet

Look in Start Menu > Control Panel for a protection software for your fingerprint scanner. There should be a built-in software to your operating system that controls settings for the device. There, you should be able to activate/deactivate it or alter settings to your liking.

You could also try going to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager. Click on Biometric and disable the "touchchip fingerprint coprocessor".

No joy, I'm afraid, but there must be some way of reprogramming my swipe.
I have a similar reader in my work computer that works well almost every time. So I suppose I am extra fussy with my home machine.

    Got it!!

    Start/all programs/acer/acer bio protection/system settings

I uninstalled, restored, re-swiped, and now it works - more often than not!
    Thanks
