Hi, I'm picking up some Castrol Magnatec 5W30 Oil 1 Litre as mine needs a top up. €12 a litre from halfords.

It's actually €15 a litre from Halfords (your link is to the UK site where it's £12)

Is the BMW approved stuff not Edge, which is €19 for 1 litre?

Was in Halfords yesterday and I think I spotted a deal on the 5l bottles. 5w 30 could be got for around €21 I think. Can't remember the brand exactly but it had VAG approved on the label.

Magnatec is only ACEA A1/B1 and so isn't low SAP - you need (newer) 5W30 Edge for that - older Edge 5W30 won't do so read the label.
