No, I don't find it funny, I find it irritating.

I'm aware of private schools and despite the fact that their parents are clearly well off enough to afford private education, many students go around dressed like little chavs with that horrible "alright alright calm down" walk, using the most deplorable language and have questionable hygiene (shudder). It's like they're trying to rebel against being well off or something.

One thing's for sure and that is that money is irrelevant- you can't buy real class.

I think it's hilarious that people think Ireland really has any kind of true upper crust, when really, even the most well off people are just a generation or two removed from muck savages anyway. You're not some kind of aristocracy, you're muck savages with money and fake American accents.

What about the people that don't really know anything about class and do a lot of their shopping on the internet?

    Oooo and Penneys!
    Love Penneys!

In my experience working with the public, the people who hold themselves to be of the highest class generally have the least.

I always say that if you lose the run of yourself in Ireland and think that you're better than everyone else and that things are beneath you then you need a good dose of cop on.

We live in a tiny island on the periphery of Europe. Billions of people don't even know we exist. Be proud of the things you do, but don't ever believe that you're something more than you are.

Particularly if all you happen to be is a product of rich parents- you didn't do anything to achieve that.

The only thing close to being wrong with that post is that "well off" isn't hyphenated.

why? it's healthy to have classes.

    upper class

I think it's funny that the op thinks having money means you belong to a certain class. You can have all the class you want and still be working class. Look at the union leaders, driving fancy cars and ripping off thousands of people who have faith in them, yet they still claim to be working class.

If you've ever been to a house party in the posher parts of Dublin you'll find that half the people are drinking Dutch. The other half will be drinking Bav.

People with high earnings, huge loans, bullsh1t and delusions think that there's a class structure, but then there are normal people who don't.
