Half rate carers allowance

I applied for half rate carers allowance in October and have not received it yet, have met with the local person who deals with it about 3 weeks ago and there didn't seem to be any problems. The person I am caring for is very ill and unfortunately has very little time left with us. My question is if the person passes away…

My question is if the person passes away before I receive the allowance will I still be entitled to receive the allowance for the time I have cared until the time of passing? I hope i have explained this ok, i am new to this.
