Changing chainrings and crank

I've got to change the crank/chainring on my MTB.
Currently got a suntour triple 28/38/48 with a 170mm right crank and 175 left.
(Didn't realise till last week that they were different- 2nd hand bike)
If I replace with a suntour crank with the same 28/38/48 chainrings, can I asume that I'll not have to do anything to the derailleur & shifting?
    Robert

Assuming you keep the same chainline, that is that the new chainset sits the same distance out from the frame as the current one then you shouldn't have any issues with shifting.
Except...with new chainrings you might well need a new chain and consequently a new cassette at the rear too as an old (stretched) chain will most likely not sit happily on new chainrings - it will hop and skip and be very annoying. The only way to find out is to try it with the old chain and see although to be honest you'd probably be as well off replacing the chain anyway.
