Im looking forward to this, newtown have been putting up big scores in the cork championship, and ballyhale have Shefflin, reid and other senior KK legends.
The ref. will play a part, if he allows a physical game it would hurt newtown as they have much lighter players.

Bookies have ballyhale favourites but i think it will be very close.

Agree , there won't be much in it. Think Ballyhale will come through though by a few points.

    Who's the ref?

EDIT: Ref is Johnny Ryan (Tiobraid Árann)

The Netwon boys are well able to play the physical stuff believe me, the Mulchays and Gleeson are hardly what you would call soft.

From what I've seen of both this year I think Ballyhale will wini by about 5 points, the Newtown backs and in particular the FB line looked quite dodgy when Thurles ran at them and if Thurles had have taken their chances would have beaten them, cant see the Reids and Sheflin passing up scores like that.

I'm sticking with my gut feeling that Newtown will win tomorrow. I agree premierstone the Newtown back line can be got at but equally the Ballyhale back line is there for the taking imo. James Stephens got at them a good few times in the final.

Starting in about 40 minutes, lovely day down south, should be a cracker.

Ballyhale win it by 2. Close game throughout, but always looked like Ballyhale had enough right the way through.

Newtown paniced in the last twenty, going for goals and high balls into the box when they should have been tapping the ball over. If they went for points instead of goals in the second half it would have been a draw at least, although I thought Ballyhale were the more physical and clinical side.

I'd agree with that, only saw the second half but Newtowns decision making was awful

Back from the Portumna - Dunloy game and despite what the scoreboard would have you believe it was far from comfortable for Portumna. We got 5/6 points up within the first 15 minutes then got the goal and after that the lads never got out of third gear. Dunloy were very physical -very strong lads and the Portumna boys will feel it tonight when they get home. Dunloy threatened a comeback early in the 2nd half pegging us back to 5 points but Joe put over a couple of free's and two from play and after that we cruised it. It'll tell you how much of a problem Dunloy caused us that Canning was brought out to midfield. Another day out in Croke Park but based on this performance we're there to be shot at; Ballyhale will have the motivation and calibre to cause us serious problems should we turn in a similar performance.

I dont think either team played near their best. Poor second half from newtown, they had the wind and they blew 3 good goal chances.

Still, 2 bad referee decisions at the end cost Newtown a draw which I think they deserved.

The final is gonna be monumental. I look forward to watching it in person through the inevitable annual horrible hangover.:pac:

I thought Portumna were only in second gear really, they were always doing enough without ever having to hit top form. I'd agree with you that that performance won't be good enough the next day though. The final could be a cracker if both teams are on form.

Yeah, the oul lad termed it well - he said we kept them at arms length without ever pushing them away.
