    I am changing my Broadband from the telephone line (7MB) to the 15Mb NTL/Chorus Digital+ via the TV cable,

    As part of the package it includes a basic "value" TV package that has many stations that the FTA satellite does not have.

    Do I need a CI & Cam system to receive these extra stations on my Windows7 HTPC together with a yet to buy DVB-C card?

    Any advice will be appreciated and Im not interested in any illegal stuff

    (I have a 7010ix tuner card for the DVB-S and DVB-T)

    theres lots of threads on this, the most recent is here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055634455

    in short, you cant do it legally as its against the UPC t&c :(
    UPC would need to release a CAM and they also need to allow their card to be used with a non UPC device.

    heres another one which is 2 threads down http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055642359
    its goes into some other detail

    I've no problems going against their T&C's as its not illegal (maybe a little via breach of contract, but its a technicality).

    Receiving pay stations that you are not entitled to is theft and is illegal.

    I simply want to watch all the legal stations that I will be paying for via my HTPC ;)

    Indeed :).

    @mullingar,

    The bottom line is that UPC don't allow this to be done legally, so anyway of getting around it is effectively the same route as you would take if you were to do it illegally, even though you have a subscription.

    @subway, Thanks for the pointers to the other threads.

    I'm closing this thread.
