Upgrading to 7 tomorrow and was gonna change from Avast to microsoft security essentials as it seems more streamlined and simpler. I cant seem to get any definitive decision from a few google searches so I was wondering if anyone here had an opinion on the matter
Also Ive backed up my most important files and am gonna do a clean install with windows 7 - is there anything I should do before wiping it all for good?

    Thanks in advance!

Using MSE for a good while now and found it be decent.

PC Pro did a review of AV software last month, including plenty of free options. The winner was AVG 9.0 free and second best of the free options was Avira (which I use myself). Avira is good, but the only niggle is a large advert that appears every time it updates (once a day). MSE was third (of the free variety)

using MSE and found it to be the least annoying..
it's definitely found a few dodgy keygens I had on my pc :D

Dunno... I've used Avast for three years now and many different OS flavours never had a problem with it, well apart for the "Virus Database Has Updated" annoying guy...

More than lightly they were paid to give that result... ;)

    Have a look Here

The new Avast 5 is pretty good, although have been using MSE on 2 of my boxes since it was released...

What I like about MSE (Which I use atm) is I don't see a single message come from it, wheather it be a update needed, or definitions needed, or an ad the vendor wants me to se...., it doesnt bother me, its also seems quite good as a anti virus, am happy with it
