    hi all

dont know if im in the right place for this but anyway i was in with a main Volvo dealer today and was informed that the oil required for the car i was driving is 0w-30 at 15 euro a litre + vat and that it would take about 5.5 litres to fill it ???

a bit steep im my eyes,

so i was talking to mate of mine and he reconed that 5w-30 would do the job just as well for me and it would be half the price :)

now before i go any further i need to know if its ok to put in the 5w-30 oil or should i just bite the bullet and fork out the few extra shillings on it

the car is a 1999 volvo v40 1.9 turbo petrol

    thanks in advance

what does the manual recommend? having said that the car is 10 years old and even putting the likes of a full synthetic (like mobil 1) would cost less.

The 5w-30 oil would probably be better for a 99 volvo anyway with wear etc and the 0w-30 oil might be burned a bit more.
