Just after been checking the oil and when I went to close the bonnet- it dosnt close properly.

Its closing a bit but when I pull it up it come up a little so its not catching fully.

Had a look at it- the 2nd bit its supposed to catch in dosn't close by itself.
ie when the hook goes down, the 2nd part stays open and dosn't move to keep the catch down.

Hope I explained that half decent ha :)

Its a 98 civic if that makes any difference.

Basically, I wanna know how to fix it.

    Thanks

    1) make sure that there is no obstruction anywhere and that the bonnet can actually close

    2) get somebody to work the bonnet release inside the cab while you drown the catch in WD 40

    3) see if it works now

    4) if not, take a picture and come back here with it:D

no obstruction that I can see.

If I pulled the bonnet release- thats the way the bonnet is permanently- that bit loose as I cant get it fully down.

Ill have to get assistance and wd40 and get back to you :D

After dropping it down from a height, push it down so it catches.

    Tried that too...
I can move the second catch with my fingers-- it just wont move itself. Grrr
Also, the noise is so loud from dropping it from a height that it makes me wanna not do it :D
