Does anyone else scan over the first page of a forum and thing 'that stupid thread it still here (keeping potentially interesting threads off the front page' and wish they could just hide the threads in question, never to see them again (a bit like google search results that throw up irrelevant links)?

Would that be doable in boards if ever there was interest in it?

Thats not actually a bad idea. Do we still have the development Forum for suggesting features?

there's the option there to view all new threads in my subbed forums. What I'd like is the option to be able to view all new threads from all forums *except* from <these> forums.

There is a way to do that. Its acyually pretty easy. I remember finding it online before. You can ask for all new posts from all forums with the exception of a few or search for all new posts for a few selected forums. I'll have a look for that and get back to ya on it.

Finally: a way to remove all those unread charters staring reproachfully at you.

Another useful trick is to use this:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=a,b,c

Where a,b,c are the forumid's of forums you don't want to see posts from. It can be useful if there's a large forum that gets posted in a lot that you've absolutely no interest in, e.g. I use it for the poker forums.

Same goes for if you only have a few forums you want to check, just use:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/search.php?do=getnew&forumid=a,b,c

I'd like this feature, especially if you could use it with the "next thread" feature. I like the "next thread" button but there's often threads I just want to skip over too. And yes, it is too much trouble to hit "next thread" again!
