Its a yellow circle with about 4 yellow dashes on each side of the circle. I cant figure out what the hell it means. Could somewhon please help or maybe take a look in theri book if they could. any help would be appreciated. thanks a million.

Have not opened your sketch but maybe its a brake pad warning light.
    Edit:
Yes Defo pad warning. Im sure the sensor is only on the front brakes so they will be getting low. Dont forget to check rear brakes too as they wont give any warning light

Looks like a brake pad warning. No need for panic, car is safe to drive, but I would get the car booked in to have the pads examined/changed.

Hi, this isn't much help but i also have a golf and it is forever displaying warning lights on the dash  I have also heard from other people that it is common with golfs. I brought it to mechanic who said it was faulty switches or something, nothing showed up on his computer??
Not sure about your warning light but as it is not red the car is safe to drive!

If it's the front pads you could change them yourself.

But the rear ones require a custom tool. I welded one but it's still not great and hard to use.
