    Hi.

I have been on the full Sky HD package including sports, movies and ESPN for 12 months (ESPN since August). Before that I did not have HD and did not have movies. Anyway I called Sky last night to drop Movies, Kids, Music and Style & Culture packages. I got through to someone in Ireland rather than Scotland and she was very helpful. When I finished she told me that as I was "Such a loyal Sky subscriber" I would be given a discount on the remaining subscription. This was coming to €85 but she reduced this to €73 for six months. However I cannot make any changes to my sub in the next 30 days or I lose this discount.

Is this a regular thing for sky to do or is it new? I have changed packages before but never had a discount before. Either way it means I almost have free HD for the coming months.

Sometimes they offer you a said discount to try to keep you with the package you are cancelling. Other time they might call to offer you a discount on a package you never had. It varies from person to person. It is common for them to do this.

I've always heard of people getting discounts when trying to drop one package or another. Sky have nothing to lose asking for it, if you drop the packages if will cost you less than it does for you now with the discount, and it costs nothing to them that you have movies or whatever, so they're bound to do it. It makes perfect sense for them.

The discount is on the packages I have left after I dropped Movies etc. not a discount to get me to keep the packages.
