Buying second hand Sky+ box?

Hey all, bit of a noob when it comes to satellite and what have you. Just a quick question, I have regular Sky. Is it possible just to put my Sky card into a new Sky plus box et voila or do you need to register it to Sky? Just wondering, thinking of buying one second hand. Any comments much appreciated! Thanks.

You will have to phone Sky to "marry" your viewing card to the new sky plus box, also if you wish to be able to record from one channel while watching another you will need to run another cable from your dish to the sky plus box,this may also involve changing the LNB on the dish if it has only a single input .
