have been using my old Inspiron 6000 for the last 5 years so now nned to upgrade.

    main uses are :

    home internet (wireless)
    storing pics and movies.

use of Autocad would be the main software requirement.
want to spend the least amount possible up to and around the 500e-550e mark, but have a liking to Dells and how they work.

any opinions on this one - http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/4759160/art/dell/inspiron-1545-alpine-whit.html

or is this pretty much the same with a different price tag? - http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=518446

If you're buying a Dell, i'd buy from Dell.
    This is better.

1545 is a good laptop, bought a few of these for home users and not a problem

Ensure though you get the 6 Cell battery as the 4 cell (as per the pixmania site) are useless.

I see the Dell.IE refurb site is gone :( Shame, used to be bargains.

The dell outlet store has been offline forr a while, but it should be back up and running eventually.
